Taking a Stand for Ag: Event Outline & Safety Guidelines

This event will take place on public roads. These roads are open to the public and ALL vehicles are therefore obliged to observe all civil road rules at all times. In order to ensure the demonstration is safe for everyone and incident free, the following will be enforced at all times:

1. Remember Why We Are Doing This

This entire event is for us to come together as a community and remind the public and Administration about the importance of Klamath Agriculture.

2. Driver & Vehicle Qualifications

All drivers must be age 16+, possess a valid driver’s license, be in competent conditions to safely operate the vehicle and have current insurance liability policy. Vehicles cannot be over 14 feet tall and 14 feet wide. Vehicles must be in good, safe operating condition and free of defects.

3. Zero Tolerance for Alcohol & Drugs

This event is an alcohol and drug-free event. No alcohol, illegal substances, smoking or inebriation will be allowed in the staging area or on the motorcade route.

4. Passengers

If you are planning to carry passengers with you in your vehicle, they MUST travel with you the entire route; you may NOT pick up passengers at any point along the route. Passengers must be inside an enclosed vehicle or wear appropriate safety harnesses/seatbelts. All children participating in the event must be under the care and control of a responsible adult at all times.

5. Traffic Laws

Please be sensible and obey all speed limits and road rules, including remaining in the right lane. THERE IS NO GREEN LIGHT CORRIDOR. Please stop on red lights and do not proceed – even if regular traffic stops to wait for you to cross. Please keep to a SINGLE LANE. All vehicles should keep their hazard lights engaged at all times.

6. Keep the Flow & Be a Friendly Motorcade

To keep the motorcade flowing, and allow for other traffic on the road, please remain in your allocated position during the motorcade and not overtake any other motorcade vehicles, unless directed to do so by the police. Please remember you must allow other drivers to intermingle, allowing them to move in and out of the motorcade. Please be patient with other drivers, even if they show signs of being frustrated with the motorcade.

7. Spectators and Pedestrians

Expect both positive and negative reactions from the public during the convoy. Regardless of their public’s behavior, do not do anything to put other participants or the public in danger. Please take extra care within Klamath Falls City Limits as there are likely to be spectators and pedestrians. Finally, please remember you are representing our entire community so please refrain from reacting to negative public response by yelling or using obscene hand gestures.

8. Social Distancing & Health

Please take care of yourself and your neighbors by doing the following:

  • DO NOT attend this event if you are any member of your household is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or has recent known exposure
  • Maintain a minimum of six feet of social distancing between non-household groups
  • Wear face masks if six feet of social distancing cannot be maintained between non-household groups
